The Annual Northern California Public Interest/Public Sector Legal Careers Day (PI/PS Day), is a job fair and networking event designed to increase students' exposure to a vast array of public interest organizations and government agencies. Nine northern California law schools and coordinating non-profit called OneJustice host this event every winter in San Francisco. The event takes place on January 30, 2016.
Specific instructions on how to access the PI/PS Day Symplicity database will sent to Davis law students in mid-December by OneJustice. Similar to the On-Campus Interview (OCI) program, PI/PS Day is a formal process where students "bid" for individual interviews. Each bid should be accompanied by a targeted cover letter, resume, and any other application materials requested by the employer. More information, including a list of employers who participated last year, can be found on the One Justice website.
PI/PS Day has two components:
Formal Interviews: Employers conduct on-site formal, pre-screened interviews for paid, work-study or volunteer positions. First, second, and third year students may apply for positions through PI/PS Day. Formal interviews are only open to students of sponsoring schools.
Table Talk: Representatives from non-profit legal organizations and government agencies are available to speak with students. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about the work done by a large number of organizations across the region. It also provides a good chance to introduce yourself to the public service community and make contacts that can produce positive results, either in the short-run or further down the line. Table Talk is open to the public.
