The San Mateo County Women Lawyers’ Section Educational Foundation was set up in 1996 as a non-profit organization to raise scholarship funds for deserving law students. Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded over $75,000. Scholarships are available to all law students, both male and female. We encourage you to apply.


In considering scholarship applicants for determination of scholarship awards, attributes of applicants to be weighed in making such awards include, but are not limited to, the following:

(a) Financial need;

(b) Academic excellence

(c) Residential or other ties to San Mateo County;

(d) Involvement in activities, whether legal, scholastic, public, private or community.

Applicants should submit a letter stating their qualifications for the award and information about why they should be selected. Please include in the letter, or as a separate attachment, the following information: All law school scholarships received and in what amounts; specify how your law school education is being financed; include a copy of your current law school transcript; and provide any other information pertinent to the selection criteria listed above.
