Bay Area Minority Law Student Scholarships (Bar Association of San Francisco)
Deadline: April 10, 2015
We have been awarding scholarships to minority law students for seventeen years. We offer these scholarships because we are firmly committed to and recognize the importance of diversity within the legal practice, particularly in Northern California. The scholarships are need based and are given to those from minorities that are underrepresented in Northern California or Bay Area law schools. In addition to money, we provide mentoring and guidance to selected applicants. We believe that by offering scholarships to minority students who have been accepted into an accredited law school in Northern California, we are helping to ease a large barrier to success in law school — the financial barrier.
•Must establish financial need. This is a need-based scholarship
•Must be a student from a minority group that is underrepresented in Bay Area law schools
•Must submit a completed application packet in a timely manner
•Must have received a “letter of admission” from one of the eight (8) Northern California ABA Accredited Law Schools
•Students entering law school in Fall 2015 and current law students are welcome to apply
Award: Most scholarships involve a substantial three-year commitment to worthy qualified students. The vast majority of scholarships awarded are $10,000 yearly.
