Weekend Features Best of King Hall

Last weekend was action-packed at UC Davis School of Law, showing the very best of the King Hall Community.
Friday morning began with a conference titled "Confronting Child Labor in Global Agricultural Supply Chains" (http://childlaborconference.com/). It was sponsored by the California International Law Center, the UC Davis Journal of International Law and Policy, and Mars Inc. Mars long has had a relationship with the UC Davis campus. Alum Paul Rosenthal '75, along with Professor Anupam Chander, were the visionaries for this important conference.
Later on Friday, we kicked off Admitted Students Weekend with a reception hosted by alum Kara Ueda '00, at the Best Best & Krieger offices in Sacramento. We had a great group of admitted students with a dedicated group of King Hall alums helping to recruit the next generation of students.
Saturday morning was devoted to an open house for admitted students at King Hall. I welcomed the group of admitted students (and many parents) before handing things off to Assistant Dean for Admissions Kristen Mercado. Professor Carlton Larson told the group about the first year curriculum. The admitted students next heard from faculty, students, and career services professionals about what they can expect at King Hall. Lunch in the courtyard with faculty, students, and admitted students was a highlight of the day.
In the afternoon, the Moot Court Board hosted the annual Neumiller Competition. We had a star-studded group of judges, including Judges Frank Easterbrook of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, Consuelo Callahan (9th Circuit), and Steve Colloton (8th Circuit). The advocates were Minal Khan’15 and Kelli Johnson ’15 (the winners), and Gagandeep Kaur ’15 and Dawei Chi ’15. It was a hotly contested case and the advocates, as well as the judges, made us proud.
All in all, it was an exciting and invigorating weekend at UC Davis School of Law!
