Last night a large group from UC Davis School of Law attended a dinner in Sacramento honoring a friend of King Hall, Presiding Justice Vance W. Raye of the Court of Appeal, Third Appellate District.

I sat at the King Hall table with Senior Assistant Dean Hollis Kulwin, Legal Writing Director Clay Tanaka, Legal Writing Instructor Meehan Rasch, Career Services Assistant Director Alison Shinsato, Development Director Karen Charney, and student Christian Acevedo ’13. Several UC Davis Law students volunteered to staff the event and did a great job. Justice Arthur Scotland, the evening’s emcee, acknowledged their help during the program.
Two of our alums, Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye ’84 and Justice Kathleen Butz ‘81, gave tributes to Presiding Justice Raye. I was able to say hello to the Chief Justice and her husband, Mark, during dinner.
Our alum Stephanie Finelli ‘94 chaired the organizing committee. Alum Windie Scott ’77 was on the organizing committee. Our alum Terry Flanigan ’73 drew the picture of Justice Raye that was in the program. I think he did a great job!
