Stallards Are Honored at Foundation Board Trustees Meeting

Our alum Tom Stallard ‘75 and his wife Meg were honored this morning at the Foundation Board Trustees meeting at the UC Davis Mind Institute in Sacramento with the Charles Soderquist Award. I was one of the nominators and submitted a nominating letter outlining all the great stuff that Tom has done for the Law School.
I attended the award ceremonies this morning. Chancellor Linda Katehi said some nice things about the Stallards as did Board President Kevin Bacon. Foundation trustee-elect and King Hall alum Steve Boutin also was at the meeting. Wayne Bartholomew ‘71, a Trustee Emeriti, was in attendance. Karen Charney and Jean Korinke were as well.
From the Foundation website: "The Charlie Soderquist Award recognizes an individual or couple who has demonstrated exceptional volunteerism and leadership by advancing the mission and vision of UC Davis through the identification, cultivation, and stewardship of major donors; the establishment of a major fundraising program; personal giving; or a combination of these contributions. The Soderquist Award is a $5,000 prize, which the recipient awards to a single UC Davis college, school or campus unit of his or her choice."
Tom and Meg Stallard have left a legacy at UC Davis. The Stallard Family Conference Room is just one example of that – it recognizes Tom, Meg, and their son David (also an alum). Among the areas Tom and Meg have made an impact as volunteers are CAAA, the Foundation Board of Trustees (Meg was President and still a Trustee; Tom is a past Trustee.), School of Education, School of Law (Tom was President of the Alumni Association Board of Directors.), Mondavi Center… and many more.
Last year, Tom and Meg were the grand marshals of Picnic Day!
