Every year, UC Davis honors members of the “Shields Society,” who named the university in their estate plans. The annual event includes a presentation on an exceptional department or program, and I was very proud that the School of Law was highlighted this year!
The presentation was hosted by Chancellor Linda Katehi on September 10. I made remarks about the outstanding centers and programs at King Hall, and Chancellor Katehi emphasized the outstanding law faculty, our climb in the rankings, and the important work of the Family Protection and Legal Assistance Clinic.
Rebecca Lovell '12 spoke about what it means to be a King Hall student working in the Family Protection Clinic. She said she hopes to become a family law practitioner after graduation. Rebecca did extremely well in her remarks.
Many law alums, faculty, and students were in attendance, including Shields Society members Tom Stallard '75 (a City Council member in Woodland, where the Family Protection Clinic is located) and Meg Stallard, Robert Leidigh '71 and Barbara Leidigh '76, and Wayne A. '71 and Jacque A. Bartholomew. Professor of Law and Director of Clinical Education Leticia Saucedo, Family Protection and Legal Assistance Clinic Supervising Attorney Krystal Callaway Jaime ‘02, and students Erik Cuadros '12 and Jennifer Gomez '12 attended, as well.
It was especially wonderful to see Professor Emeritus Richard Wydick. It was my pleasure to point him out in my remarks and catch up with him. He is very much beloved by the King Hall community.
Many thanks to Chancellor Katehi for the opportunity to spread the word about the great work we do at King Hall!
