Rosy Martinez is a UC Davis undergraduate student assistant who works in the Dean's Office. The campus has highlighted her work at The Pantry. Rosy is the Unit Director of the student-run organization that provides up to three meals or personal items per day to UC Davis students. The Pantry was formed in 2011 in response to concerns about food insecurity on campus.
Rosy said that growing up her family relied on food banks and now she is able to help students in need. She said working at The Pantry is one of the most meaningful things she has done on campus.
"I’m proud to be a first generation student, to serve my community and I feel like I’ve even set myself up to attend graduate school," she said.
In the fall, Rosy helped coordinate about three dozen King Hall faculty and staff to volunteer at The Pantry as part of "adopt a week." She is an inspiration to us all!
