“Return to School to Teach!”
Posted By Kevin R. Johnson, Sep 28, 2009
Anyone who's ever considered returning to law school to teach should check out this panel discussion, organized by the Bar Association of San Francisco (BASF). It's called, "Return to School to Teach! Diversifying Law School Faculty," and it will take place tomorrow at the BASF conference center on Battery Street.
I will be one of several panelists from area law schools, including UC Hastings, University of San Francisco, and Golden Gate. We'll be talking about the paths we took to become faculty members, as well as our experiences as minority professors.
Diversity - of thought, background, and experience - is one of King Hall's greatest assets. In fact, UC Davis School of Law recently was ranked 10th in the nation for faculty diversity by the Princeton Review. Our school also figured prominently in a story on "Most Diverse Faculty" in National Jurist magazine, which reported that UC Davis has the highest number of Asian American faculty of any American law school!
I'm looking forward to a great discussion at tomorrow's event. For more information, visit http://www.sfbar.org/calendar/eventdetail.aspx?id=D097408/D097408.
