Milton Schwartz/David Levy Inn of Court Dinner
Posted By Kevin R. Johnson, Nov 10, 2017
The Milton Schwartz/David Levy Inn of Court had an engaging program on immigration, federalism, and civil rights. The program included a great reenactment of the legal proceedings in Chy Lung v. Freeman. This case, from 1875, made its way to the Supreme Court and involved the efforts of the U.S. government to bar 22 “lewd women” from China from the United States.
As always, we had a group of faculty, students, and alums in attendance. I sat at a table with Professor Carlton Larson, alum and Solano County Superior Court Judge Tim Kam '95, and law student Bailey McCabe. Professor Leticia Saucedo participated in a panel discussion about the case.
