Law and Society Meeting in SF
Posted By Kevin R. Johnson, Jun 6, 2011
I headed to the Law & Society 2011 Annual Meeting in San Francisco this week. UC Davis School of Law had an incredibly high number of faculty participating on panels – eleven in all! They included Professors Afra Afsharipour, Anupam Chander, Lisa Ikemoto, Courtney Joslin, Peter Lee, Evelyn Lewis, Albert Lin, Lisa Pruitt, Leticia Saucedo, Dennis Ventry, Jr., and me. The annual meeting attracts legal and other scholars from around the world and is one of the largest scholarly conferences relating to law each year.
I was on two panels, one on state and local efforts to regulate immigration and the other commenting on a book on Latino home ownership. For description of the panels, see http://lawprofessors.typepad.com/immigration/2011/06/immigration-law-and-the-legitimation-of-discrimination.html
Besides participating in the conference and catching up with friends and colleagues, I was able to arrange some meetings with friends of King Hall to spread the good word about the UC Davis School of Law!
