King Hall Students at NLG Convention
Posted By Kevin R. Johnson, Oct 20, 2009
Just received this email from Genevieve Roman '10, who was one of three students to attend the National Lawyers Guild convention in Seattle last week:
"Attending the National NLG Law for the People Convention (2009) was one of the best things I did while studying at King Hall. I was inspired by the amazing panels and workshops about issues that mean so much to me: including effectively representing transgender clients, preparing for immigration bond hearings, and finding work as a radical or progressive lawyer during the economic crisis (among many others). I made incredible friendships with like-minded students and attorneys from all over country who tirelessly advocate for underrepresented communities -- many of whom I will stay in touch with and have as resources for the future. I would advise any student to take advantage of this opportunity to learn and build community -- it was a much needed injection of inspiration, FUN and a reminder that we truly can use our legal careers to help others and effect meaningful changes in the world."
Thanks for the great feedback, Genevieve!
