Immigration and Poverty Conference

Posted By Kevin R. Johnson, May 16, 2012

UC Davis is hosting a conference titled "Immigration and Poverty: Economic and Social Connections, Policy Approaches" tomorrow and Friday.  The conference is sponsored by the UC Davis Economy, Justice and Society Program, as well as the Center for Poverty Research and the Institute of Governmental Affairs.  I am on a panel on the second day of the conference.  The agenda is here.

Here is the conference description: "The mobility of people across national boundaries is an exceptional economic force and catalyst for social and cultural change, but it is also a source of significant policy challenges. This interdisciplinary conference brings together scholars studying the connection between migration and the economic development of individuals, markets, and states in both sending and receiving countries."

The conference should spark some thought-provoking discussion.  I am looking forward to it!
