Guest Blog Entry: Unity Bar Dinner 2013

King Hall had a strong presence at last week's Unity Bar Dinner. The Law School was a proud co-sponsor of the event, and our own Vik Amar was the keynote speaker. I was unable to attend because wife Virginia and I were celebrating our anniversary (with dinner at Biba!), so here's a recap from Dean's Blog contributor Senior Assistant Dean of Student Affairs Hollis Kulwin, who was a member of the event's organizing committee. Thanks, Dean Kulwin!
I had a terrific evening attending the Unity Bar Association annual dinner in Sacramento. A unique organization composed of the Asian/Pacific Bar Association of Sacramento (ABAS), the La Raza Lawyers Association of Sacramento, the Wiley Manuel Bar Association, Women Lawyers of Sacramento, the South Asian Bar Association, and Sacramento Lawyers for the Equality of Gays and Lesbians (SACLEGAL), the Unity Bar’s annual dinner celebrates diversity, honors outstanding public service and presents student scholarships. King Hall was co-sponsor of this year’s event, which included a fabulous keynote address from Vikram Amar, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Professor of Law at King Hall. A large contingent of King Hall alumni, students and faculty, including Professors Cruz Reynoso, Richard Frank, Clay Tanaka, Gabriel "Jack" Chin, Rex Perschbacher, Anupam Chander, and Leticia Saucedo, were in attendance. Two King Hall students received Unity Bar scholarships: Linda Sobczynski ’15, selected by the Leonard M. Friedman Bar Association, and Anna von Herrmann ’14, selected by Sacramento Lawyers for the Equality of Gays and Lesbians. Special thanks to Patty Tsubokawa-Reeves ’86 and Shama Mesiwala ’98 for their efforts in organizing this outstanding event!
