Chief Justice Cantil-Sakauye and Judicial Alumni

Posted By Kevin R. Johnson, May 16, 2011

After our wonderful commencement ceremony on Friday, I joined commencement speaker and King Hall alum Tani Cantil-Sakauye ’84, Chief Justice of California, at a special dinner hosted by King Hall’s judicial alumni at the Davis Odd Fellows Lodge.

Here’s a rundown of some of the attendees: 18 alumni judges (19 if you include the Chief Justice), former State Supreme Court Justice and Professor Emeritus Cruz Reynoso, 15 King Hall faculty members, and 11 alumni board members.

I spoke about King Hall – yesterday, today, and the future – and also about our pride in the new Chief Justice.  Cantil-Sakauye reflected on how special King Hall is, and on the friendships she made and holds dear from King Hall.

I’d like to thank the organizing committee members: Judges Judy Hersher, Janet Gaard, David Brown, Stacey Boulware-Eurie, and David Rosenberg.

Some of the judges stayed in the area on Saturday so they could attend continuing education courses taught by Professors Vik Amar and Carlton Larson, and Judges Timothy Fall and David Rothman.

Between commencement and the judicial dinner, it was a great Friday!
