This week, Angela Harris, Distinguished Professor of Law and Boochever and Bird Endowed Chair for the Study and Teaching of Freedom of Equality, taught her last class before retirement. The class was Critical Race Theory.

To celebrate Professor Harris’s retirement, her band Negotiable Instruments (of Aokirama fame) serenaded her with a song. Professor Rose Cuison Villazor called the band together for the festivities. Professor Tom Joo played guitar. Vocals were by Bill Dodge, Rose Villazor, Carlton Larson, Peter Lee, and Mary Louise Frampton on Green Day’s “Time of Your Life.” I had the honor of watching the band play!

Professor Harris came to UC Davis School of Law in 2011 after teaching at UC Berkeley School of Law. She is a most influential Critical Race Theorist and beloved by her students. While we will miss her in retirement, Professor Harris will teach every so often at King Hall.
