An Intellectually Enriching Lunch Hour

One of the things about life at a vibrant law school with engaged students and faculty is the wealth of opportunities to hear great speakers. Just at lunch today, I was able to visit with Jeff Adachi, the well-known San Francisco public Defender, who came to talk as part of the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association’s culture week. The students left the talk inspired. Also during lunch, I was able to hear the presentation of a fascinating immigration paper by two emerging immigration law scholars, David Rubenstein (Washburn) (by Skype) and Pratheepan Gulasekaram (Santa Clara). The faculty had an engaging discussion of important immigration law matters, including the case pending in the Supreme Court involving a challenge to President Obama’s expanded deferred action program.
A day rarely goes by without two, three, and more intellectually enriching events at UC Davis School of law. We all are lucky to be part of such a vibrant community.
