Alumni and Admitted Students Reception in San Francisco

Posted By Kevin R. Johnson, May 21, 2010

This week's Alumni and Admitted Students Reception in San Francisco was great!  More than 70 guests attended, including 25 admitted students.

Wednesday's event was held at the San Francisco office of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips LLP.  Our hostess, Amy Briggs ‘97, is a partner at the firm and one of my former civil procedure students.  Amy and I used to participate in the King Hall Running Club.  We had some nice runs around the Davis arboretum and the little Davis airport.

Professor Chris Elmendorf was in attendance, and I know the admitted students appreciated the opportunity to talk directly with a faculty member.  It was great to see many of our alumni, including Amy Quirk '81.  There was very strong attendance by some of our '08 and '09 alumni who live and work in the San Francisco Bay Area, including former LSA President Eric Toscano '09, now an associate at Reed Smith.  Admitted students were pleased to learn that recent King Hall graduates found excellent employment opportunities in the Bay Area, even in this economy!

This was the third Alumni and Admitted Students reception we've held this year.  We always encourage admitted students and alumni to join these events when possible.  Alumni get to reconnect with classmates and share their King Hall experiences with prospective students.  Admitted students get the chance to meet law school administration, faculty, staff, and alumni and learn why we all love UC Davis School of Law.
