A Gathering and Golf

It was a busy weekend, full of King Hall activities.
On Saturday, UC Davis School of Law alumnus Miguel Martin '84 and his wife opened up their Elk Grove home for an informal gathering of La Raza law students, faculty members, and King Hall La Raza alumni. It was nice to see a lot of familiar faces - alumna Sara Granda '09 attended, and so did LRLSA co-chair Esmeralda Soria '11 and other students. There was great food, including carne asada.
A little bit about our host: Miguel Martin is an administrative law judge in Sacramento. He founded the annual Patiño awards banquet held in honor of the late Judge Lorenzo Patiño ‘73. Miguel went to undergrad at Stanford and had the Stanford-OSU football game on in the background during Saturday's gathering.
Sunday brought the 1st Annual Steve Boutin Invitational Golf Tournament. It was a huge success! Students, faculty, and alumni hit the links and enjoyed lunch at Wildhorse Golf Club, with proceeds from the event going toward the King Hall Legal Foundation (KHLF). I thought Steve, Professor Clay Tanaka, and the students, especially 2Ls Elisa Cozad and Scott Vignos, did an outstanding job organizing the great tournament. Thanks to Elisa for driving me around on the golf cart!
